Portfolio Architect

Matteo Bortolu

I connect enduring capabilities with the systems that realise them.

I am a biomedical engineer and solution architect with around twenty-five years in IT. My career has covered software development, MedTech, secure communications, computer vision, PKI, enterprise architecture and shopfloor technology. Today, my work focuses on supply chain. I developed Capability-Centric Engineering to connect enduring organisational abilities with the systems, people, evidence and governance that realise them.

How I work

From a difficult question to a usable system

The form changes with the problem; the discipline stays recognisable.

  1. 01

    Frame

Name the capability, decision and boundary before choosing a solution.

  2. 02

    Connect

Relate people, software, operations and evidence without flattening their differences.

  3. 03

    Test

Use working examples and counterexamples to expose weak assumptions early.

  4. 04

    Govern

Make ownership, failure, evidence and change explicit.

  5. 05

    Communicate

Give each reader a clear route from concept to consequence.

About

Engineering across boundaries

Today my work is grounded in supply chain, where enterprise architecture, systems engineering and hands-on software meet. I am interested in the structures that let an organisation change its implementations without losing the identity, responsibility or evidence of the capability itself.

Transparent collaboration

AI made this website with me.

I directed its purpose, content and decisions, reviewed the result and remain accountable for what is published here.
